Tasks of furnishing the classrooms and the administrative offices as well as stocking the library

were taken on by more ladies of action: Mrs. DuVal Campbell, Mrs. Louis Basten,

Mrs. Howard Rhodes and Mrs. Tom Roberts.

The desks and chairs, which were “thoroughly used” were a gift to Seven Hills School from

Chatham Hall. They were replacing theirs with new ones and offered their old ones to us – the

board gratefully accepted this donation which came to about 160 desks and chairs.

Over 2000 books were donated to the school’s library by the community.

The community's support was encouraging: among the generous acts that the community

performed in support of the school were: an antique sale held by The Virginian Club to benefit

the school and the Misses Ward hosted several balls to raise money for the school.
