In 1974, the Seven Hills School Board approached Virginia Episcopal School with the concept of merging the two schools. At the time, Virginia Episcopal School was facing money problems, and Seven Hills School was in better shape financially. The faculty of Seven Hills School opposed the merger for fear of losing our unique identity as an all girls college prep school. They also didn't know how the merger would affect Seven Hills School's academic program.
After many meetings and much discussion, Virginia Episcopal School agreed that merging would be beneficial to the schools. Of course, each school wanted its own terms for the merger. In the end, Seven Hills School decided against the merger.
In March 1974, Dr. Falvey surprised the school community by announcing her intention to retire, and she asked for her resignation to be effective January 1975. The search was started to find a replacement. | ||
